websites > --Mark Ahmann, Wayne, contributor: Known for his sign-off: “Have a good day the rest of this one, a good tomorrow and take care of yourself,” Ahmann was the primary face and voice of Nebraska high school sports while hosting KOLN/KGIN’s Friday night Sports Roundup from 1972 to 1980. Ahmann has also worked as a broadcaster in Lexington, North Platte, Sioux City and Wayne, as well as in Iowa and Michigan. He called the 1966 “Game of the Century” between Michigan State and Notre Dame.
websites > --Bobby Bass, athlete: A 1975 graduate of Omaha Benson, Bass was the Omaha World-Herald’s first three-time all-state football selection. Bass scored 22 touchdowns as a junior. He also lettered in basketball, baseball and track, playing on the state championship baseball team of 1974.
websites > --Randy Brooks, athlete.A 1977 graduate of Creighton Prep, Brooks won five gold medals at the state track meet in 1976 and 1977.  He set the state record in the 110-meter high hurdles (13.7 seconds). That record still stands. He also posted the all-time fastest time in the 180-yard low hurdles and was a second-team all-state selection in football. Brooks was a four-year track letterman and national qualifier at Nebraska. He was the Big 8 60-yard high hurdle and 110-meter high hurdle champion in 1981.
websites > Paul Brungardt, coach, Humphrey St. Francis: Brungardt compiled a career basketball coaching record of 473-159 over 29 years, winning Class D-1 state championships in 1990, 1992 and 1994 at Humphrey St. Francis as well as a state runner-up trophy in 1988. He also coached at Hayden High School in Topeka, Kan.; Cathedral High School in Denver; Norfolk Catholic; St. Bede Academy in Peru, Ill.; and Battle Creek. His Cathedral team finished second in the Parochial League state tournament.
websites > Linda Carlson, coach, North Platte: Carlson started the volleyball and track programs at North Platte, guiding the Bulldogs to the inaugural Class A state track championship in 1971. But it was in volleyball where she made her mark, compiling a 476-252 record from 1970-2003. Her teams won state championships in 1979 and 1980 and was runner-up in 1975. North Platte qualified for the state volleyball tournament 15 times and won 14 conference championships. She also coached tennis for 17 years.

He also was an assistant football and assistant basketball coach, playing a part in two state championship football teams, two state runner-up football teams and a state runner-up basketball. He started coaching at Barneston where he was head football and head basketball coach for two years. He was the co-head basketball coach at McCook in 2004

websites > --Elmer Dohrmann, athlete: A 1933 graduate of Seward High School, he also attended Staplehurst through the 10th grade. He started at end on Seward’s state champion football team of 1931 that went 9-0 and outscored its opponents 320-2. At the University of Nebraska, he competed in football, basketball, track and baseball, earning 11 letters, the most of any Husker athlete. He won the Big Six 60-yard high hurdles in 1934 and was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 1938.
websites > --Jeff Evans, athlete: A 1973 Fremont High School graduate, he won all but two races throughout his high school swimming career, setting state records at all four state meets. He was the first Nebraska swimmer to break four minutes in the 400-yard freestyle. He won seven gold medals at the state meet.
